Our Story

Pastor Abner “Andy” Báez feels God's call to plant a church in which people can enjoy the true joy that only Jesus can bring to the life of the human being. From this vision arises the name Joyful House Church. Our first worship service was on Sunday, August 11, 2013 at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Hotel in Germantown, MD.

Since our inception, Joyful House Church has focused on teaching God's Word and God's plan for people. God wants us to know him personally. God wants us to enjoy the Freedom He offers us. God wants us to discover the Purpose for which we were created. God wants us to make a difference in others so that they also know Jesus.

Today we have several growing ministries in our church and a group of people eager to continue growing in the Lord more every day. Our desire and goal is for more people to join this vision every day.

Joyful House Church is a church affiliated with Defenders of the Christian Faith Movement, Inc. This is an international organization that seeks to defend the Christian Faith, as taught by the Bible.

Our Beliefs

The beliefs of our church are completely based on what the word of God says.

WE BELIEVE in the ordinance of practicing the Lord’s Supper. It consists of the bread and the juice of the vine, which symbolize the body and the blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is a reminder of His suffering, death and a prophecy of his second coming. (Matt. 26:26-29; Mark 14:22-25; Luke 22:13-20; 1 Cor. 11:23-26). WE BELIEVE that the participants should be baptized believers in water and in full communion with the church.

WE BELIEVE that it is necessary to live a life of holiness without which no one will see the Lord. (Heb. 12:14; 1 Thess. 4:3). Sanctification is obtained with the death of Christ. (Heb. 2:11; 10:14; 13:12; 1 Cor. 1:30) After conversion the Holy Spirit perfects the work of God in the believer, equipping him to live a life of Holiness (John 17:16-19; 1 Thess. 5:22-24). Sanctification is a clear separation from the world into a way of life worthy of a holy God.

WE BELIEVE in the second coming of Christ (Acts 1:11) with the following events: WE BELIEVE in the rapture or passage of the Church and that this event will occur before the great tribulation. (1 Thess. 4:15-17). WE BELIEVE in the second manifestation of Christ in bodily and visible form and that He will establish His Millennial Kingdom on earth. (Matt. 24:30; Acts 1:11; Rev. 1:7; 5:10; 11:15; 20:1-7; Dan. 7:14; 1 Cor. 15:25). WE BELIEVE in the Final Judgment with retribution of Eternal Life for the righteous and eternal punishment for the unjust. (2 Pet. 3:7)

WE BELIEVE that man is saved through the public acceptance of Jesus Christ as his Savior. WE BELIEVE that this salvation is by grace through the sacrifice of Christ on the cross of Calvary 19 (Eph. 2:8); which is justified by faith in Christ (Ro. 5:1); is the heir of eternal life (John 3:16; Titus 3:7). WE BELIEVE that salvation obtained by believing in Christ is immediate (Luke 19:9; John 5:24) and that it is indispensable to remain in Him in order to preserve it. (Matt. 24:13; Heb. 2:1-2)

WE BELIEVE in the act of marriage as established by God since the beginning. WE BELIEVE that the only relationship that must exist is through marriage and that marriage should be performed only between a man and a woman. Human beings are born male or female because that is how God created them from the beginning. (Gen. 1:27; 2:21-25) We totally reject all homosexual relationships and declare it against nature (Rom. 1:26-27). Homosexuality is not a lifestyle, but a sinful condition for those who practice it and depravation for humanity.

Andy Báez

Abner "Andy" Baez is the founding and senior pastor of Joyful House Church. His passion is to lead the church in the vision of reaching people that get to Know God, Find Freedom, and Discover their purpose to then Make a Difference in the lives of families in Germantown, MD, and northern Montgomery County. Pastor Andy is also the Vice-President of the Defenders of the Christian Faith Movement, with which Joyful House Church is affiliated. In addition to being a minister, Pastor Andy is a music teacher for the Montgomery County Public Schools and a musician with the calling to educate church leaders on the role of music in church corporate worship. Andy and his wife Mariam have two children and live in Gaithersburg, Maryland.
